Hedge Scape

Hedges are the integral part of a garden giving formality, structure, privacy and security.

Depending on the characteristics of your garden, your hedges will display either a formal (very linear), or informal (very loose and open) look.

Formal versus informal:

The style and planting scheme of your garden should also have an influence over your choice of hedge management.

A very formal garden uses slow growing dense types of hedging plants, which lend themselves to regular tight clipping. You will see these types of hedge in stately homes. An informal garden will consider the use of more “untidy, open and natural” looking hedging plants that would be in keeping of a non uniform feel like you will see in most regular gardens.

Whatever type of hedge you have or are considering, Urban and Rural Landscapes can offer you advice on creating, planting and the upkeep of an existing hedge or of the establishment of a new hedge.
